Scripture (Job 35:3 NLT) For you also ask, ‘What’s in it for me? What’s the use of living a righteous life?’ Observation: One of Job's friends posed the above question to him in today's scripture. I was once introduced to this thought "What's in it for me"? years ago in some kind of training for a job I had, I can't remember the job but that acronym stuck with me WIIFM--What's in it for me? Basically the concept was people will be more apt to do something if they can answer that question clearly for themselves. It is a motivator so to speak. Nothing is really wrong with that thinking unless there are selfish motives that lean on the side of greed for oneself. Application: Well let's ask the question: "What's in it for me?" if I choose to follow Christ... Well first I have been made right in God's eyes because of Jesus and my relationship with God is restored, I am gifted with eternal life and headed to heaven, I am promised rewards in Heaven for what I do here on earth, I will have the peace that surpasses all understanding, I will have an abundant life, I get to see lives change in people I introduce the love of God to, I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, I have the Holy Spirit in me that is greater than anything in the world to empower me to courageously press forward, I become an adopted child of the most high God and therefore become part of the family of God...and on and on and on....Will life be easy-peasy? not at all...we will be challenged because of our faith, we will get persecuted, we will be hated by the world,....but if we endure for just a little while more...eternal life is at our doorstep! We are citizens of Heaven....Hallelujah! Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you would help me guard against distractions, deceptions and detours of my life that would take me away from serving you wholeheartedly. Your words says to make best use of our time here on earth because our days are numbered....help me to do just that Lord. Keep me laser-focused on the plans you have for my life as a Pastor, Husband, Father, Brother and servant of the most high God. You deserve the Glory Lord...and the Honor....and Praise...in Jesus Name...Amen and Amen. | |
