Scripture:  (Genesis 22:4-5) 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

Observation:  A familiar story in the bible for sure but still powerful.  As we read Genesis 22 we see that God told Abraham to go up to the mountains and sacrifice his son Isaac (which means laughter). But here's the thing, as Abraham, his servants and his son was going up he told the  servants "We will worship and then we will come back to you".  I'm not sure about you but this speaks loudly on the kind of faith Abraham had.  Even though God told him to sacrifice Isaac he had faith enough to believe he was coming down the mountain with Isaac.  How?  I don't know and neither did Abraham but God knew.  Abraham had such a mountainous kind of FAITH.

Application:  When I think about Abraham's obedience I also contrast it with Adam's disobedience.  Here we have one extreme to another. Abraham believed in God so much he was willing to sacrifice his son--  on the other hand Adam's disobedience cost  the human race a life full of sin until our Saviour Jesus Christ came to rescue us.

Another side note I noticed as I read the above passage is that I wonder what the "servants" of Abraham was thinking as they set out to the mountains to sacrifice Isaac?  Then I wonder what they thought when they saw Isaac coming back with his father Abraham. Hmmmm

It is no wonder the bible tells us to have a childlike faith...one that fully trusts God no matter what.

Prayer:  Lord you see the measure of faith that I have....increase it Lord to move mountains out of the way as we enter 2016  in Jesus Name...Amen
