Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-11 (NLT)10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Observation: Today's scripture simply stood out to me by mentioning the word "all" in verse 11. In battle we need to be fully equipped and fully armored. It says to "Put on all of God's armor"... because if we don't, the devil will find our weak spot and use his strategies to take us down. Later in the chapter it explains how we are to be armored with the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, gospel shoes of peace, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit (God's word). Completing the armor will help us stand firm against the enemy, doing otherwise opens us up for trouble. Application: One area that keeps getting targeted by the enemy is our mind. Satan will try to twist God's truth, question if we are doing the right thing and simply mess with our minds. It is often said that the battle is in the mind. One way to equip ourselves is knowing who we are in Christ, that we are saved by grace and our salvation is a gift from God. When we know this truth it will help us to battle through life when circumstances try to tell us differently. We must also cling to God's word and not let our "well" run dry but allow it to fill us up afresh daily. I'm not sure why a "termite" is coming to mind, but I believe just as destructive over time a termite can be to a structure or home....so it is with the enemy when we are not alert....he will slowly pick at us if we are not armored well. verse 18 tells us: 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Prayer: Oh Lord we so need you to keep us alert, aware and well armored. The enemy knows his time is running out quickly and he will attempt every strategy to take us down. I pray against complacency, weariness, distractions and confusion in Jesus name! Lord I pray you help all of us finish the race strong in Jesus name...Amene! | |
