Scripture: John 6,5-6 (NIV) 28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” Observation: The 5000 that were just fed tracked down Jesus across the lake for more food. But the physical food was not what Jesus wanted them to get...but it was the spiritual food that he had to offer as "The Bread of Life". Then they turned and asked the question as mentioned above in which Jesus responded "to believe in the one he has sent". Application: The work that we do as believers in Christ has everything to do in our belief in Jesus Christ. Believing is just the beginning though....because right after believing comes the "obeying" part in what he requires of us. We must put our belief and faith in action as is commonly stated. Faith without "works" is simply dead for we need to "work out our belief". Prayer: Lord your word tells us in 1st Timothy 4:8 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. Lord help us to learn how to value our "work outs" in godliness more than anything else because it's value is in "all things"....in Jesus Name...Amen. | |
