Scripture: (Luke 6:35-NIV) 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Observation: Easier said than done, loving your enemies that is. When someone is against you and wants harm upon you it is difficult to love them. In fact, it is a natural inclination to stay as far away from them and have no part with them. But Jesus here is telling us to love them, to do good to them (even if they don't do good to you). In verse 28 it also tells us to even "pray" for them. Oh Lord do I need help in that area. But you always set the example: "HE is kind to the ungrateful and wicked".

Application: I've noticed in life that when we harbor ill-feelings, unforgiveness, bitterness and even hatred towards one another it "eats us up" inside. Often times we have no peace, experience restless nights and just a loss of well being mentally (sometimes physically). God knows best when he tells us to take the higher rode sort to speak. In other words, don't get dragged down in the mud holding onto things that will hinder us from an abundant life. God wants the best for us. Loving people takes practice....and more so towards our so called "enemies". We do our part, and God will take care of his part that includes rewards in heaven. We do this because we love HIM.

Prayer: Lord help me to be kind and forgiving like you. I pray for your heart to love others. And as we embark on a New Year with so much possibilities and potential I lean on your wisdom and guidance. Help me as a Husband, Father, Pastor, Brother, etc. to be the best that I can be in all of these areas. I pray for your prosperity to rain down on your people. I lift up Heart of Aloha Church and your plans to continue to unfold in this church. I pray for the leaders of the church that there would be unity as we move forward. Thank you Lord for today....in Jesus Name...Amen.
