Scripture:  Joshua 12:7 (NLT)--7 Here is a list of the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave their lands as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions. 8 The lands included the hill country, the western foothills, the Arabah, the mountain slopes, the wilderness and the Negev. These were the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

Observation:  No doubt when you read the scriptures sometimes you wonder why all these names of people or places or kings are all listed. Most of which you don't really know how to pronounce or even know where that place is.  But I guess the Lord thought it was important.  Later in Joshua 12 it mentions 31 Kings from different places that were "conquered" by the Israelites.  Their life journey had everything to do with how obedient they were with the Lord in order to conquer these kings and places.

Application:  Today we are fighting different battles.  Battles where the enemy is unseen. Be it fear, anxiety, the unknown, uncertainty, worry, etc.  that includes  the Coronavirus.  How do we conquer such "unseen" wars.  The same way it's been down for thousands of years, by obeying the Lord.  By listening to what His word tells us.  By spiritual weapons that he has equipped us with. Ephesians 6:14-18 (NIV) tells us "

"14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."

Prayer:  Lord thank you that you are always the same yesterday, today and forever.  Though the times and circumstances may change in our lives and in our environment here on earth we are assured that you are the same.  Your word is the same to help us deal with fear, anxiety, worry, uncertaintiy, etc.  Thank you that you are teaching us, testing us, in how we come out of this Coronavirus situation.  We stand ready to obey, learn and receive your protection through it all.  Help us to conquer our battles one by one just as you helped the Israelites. We trust and leave it in your Jesus name...Amen
