Scripture: Judges 10:6-8 (NLT) Again the Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight. They served the images of Baal and Ashtoreth, and the gods of Aram, Sidon, Moab, Ammon, and Philistia. They abandoned the Lord and no longer served him at all. 7 So the Lord burned with anger against Israel, and he turned them over to the Philistines and the Ammonites, Observation: You would think that after all that God had done for the Israelites in leading them out of bondage from Egypt they would be more than glad to serve just Him. But even when God told them not to serve other gods or idols, they still went ahead and did it defiantly and blatantly right in front of His eyes. NO LISTEN! Why do we think that we can escape God in the things that we know He is displeased with? Why do we think that because nothing happened from God, we can continue to do sinful things? Application: Jeremiah 23:24 (NLT) tells us: "24 Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord" God is omnipresent, He is everywhere. Today's scripture makes me think about being a parent, and how we want the best for our children and yet sometimes they choose the wrong path even though they know what is right. It grieves us as parents to see this happen as it must for God, but we must still go ahead and love them unconditionally just as our Heavenly father loves us. I may not know the details on what led the Israelites to not listen to God in serving other gods, but the scripture does remind me that God is a God of justice and He will discipline us because He loves us. Prayer: Lord the Apostle Paul stated in 1st Corinthians 16:13-14 "13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. 14 And do everything with love." Would you help me to be on guard in my actions througout the day that it may be pleasing to you. Would you also help me to be courageous, strong and to do everything with love. Lord, I await your instructions for the day.....in Jesus name...Amen | |
