Scripture: Matthew 22:18 (NLT) 18 But Jesus knew their evil motives. “You hypocrites!” he said. “Why are you trying to trap me? Observation: It's interesting as you read the parable or stories Jesus told to those listening around him, often times it was the religious leaders called the Pharisees or Sadducees that surrounded him. Most of the time, if not all of the time, they tried to outsmart and trap him in the questions they asked him. And because they didn't believe Jesus as the son of God, they didn't know that " He knows all" (Omniscient) Application: The scripture tells us that Jesus knew the evil motives of the Pharisees as they tried to trap him in answering a question about paying taxes to Caesar. He actually calls them "Hypocrites"! They thought they could get away in getting Jesus cornered. We too must realize that God knows all. He knows our intentions, he knows our sins, he knows when we are truthful or not, he knows when we are hiding because nothing escapes him. He desires the truth from us, he desires us to be honest with him and others, he desires to not pretend when things are not going right...He wants us to go to him at all times. For the bible tells us that He will never leave us or forsake us. Prayer: Lord I pray that you will help me to turn away from evil and sin when the temptation presents itself. Lord you know my weaknesses and I pray you would strengthen me. You are everywhere, you are all knowing and nothing escapes your eyes. Thank you for being for me....Thank you for taking care of me....Thank you for my family and loved ones you've surrounded me with. Thank you for the place you've allowed me to dwell in...Thank you for loving me....Thank you for health and well being....Thank you for the provisions that help me sustain my life....Thank you for looking out for me....Thank you Jesus....Amen and Amen. | |
