Topic:  Holiness/Righteousness

Scripture:

1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'I am the LORD your God. 3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Observation:

The Lord had very specific instruction to Moses to speak to the Israelites on not doing what they did in Egypt or follow the practices in Canaan.  It would seem God knew what they did, which was displeasing in Egypt, and he also knew what they were doing in Canaan, also displeasing.  But did they listen? Sometimes not...

Application:

In the beginning stages of our Christiian walk we too may find ourselves thinking about going back to our "old ways" the so called Egypt in our lives.  But the Lord desires that we continue to be holy in His eyes, to take the right path which he has laid before us.   We also may be tempted to do things that we've never done before that would seem displeasing in God eyes, the so called Canaan in our lives.  It would be wise that we stick so close to the Lord in our prayers, devotions and reading of God's Word to keep us on track.

Lord thank you for that revelation above...continue to help me stay on Your path of righteousness and to live a life of holiness....in Jesus name...Amen
