Topic:  God's Messenger

Scripture:

6 he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. 7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. 8 With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?"

(NIV) Numbers 12:6-8

Observation:

Repeatedly the Israelites murmured and complained while they were in the wilderness, with God hearing all of it too. This is also the case with Aaron and Miriam.  Both of these were speaking against Moses.  And guess who was right there to hear it-----Yes, God!  Moses was a man that God chose as his messenger and Leader to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. For some reason Aaron and Miriam didn't see how God looked upon Moses with high regard.

Application:

When there is a calling on someone's life as a Prophet, Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, Apostle, etc.--we must be mindful to respect that person's position and role.  Every word spoken against this person is despised by the Lord.  In this case the Lord struck Miriam with Leprosy.  There is a strong message here!

Prayer:

Lord forgive me when I don't understand certain messengers and leaders you have put before me in my life and continue to do so.  But help me to respect those that you have called into leadership to accomplish the task ahead of them. At the same time guard and protect me from those that may lead me astray from your truth.....in Jesus Name...Amen.
