Scripture: 35And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed (NIV) Mathew 14:35-36
Observation: What strikes me in this verse is when it says: "when the men of that place recognized Jesus"... It seems that Jesus was known throughout the country. Imagine that, no cell phones, no television, no 6:00 O'clock news, no Iphones, no internet, no GPS tracking system, etc......and yet the people "sent word to all the surrounding country", that Jesus was in the house! (or in the country). They knew not only who Jesus was, but what he could do. As an observation: when people really want to get a message out to someone or a group of people, knowing that it is important, they will always find a way.
Applications: Couple things come to mind: >When people see us as Christians and how we relate to them, do they see Jesus in us? >When I share the Gospel to someone, do I disappear and allow Jesus to appear (figuratively speaking)? >Are people excited to see us as Christians knowing that it is through Jesus Christ that we bring healing and forgiveness to them? >And if not, what is it that we're not doing that prevents people from "sending the word out throughout the country, the Islands, the State, the Nations -------of coming to us (as Christians) because we have Jesus in our lives to share with them? Selah
Prayer: Lord, as always there seems to be more questions than answers when it comes to reevaluating ourselves as Christians. But help us to be guided by Your Holy Spirit, that our reliance is upon You and not ourselves, that our Trust and Faith would grow exponentially in and through Christ Jesus, and that people would see Jesus in us...the Hope of Glory.......in Jesus Name...Amen... | |
