Topic: Repentance

Scripture:

20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

(NIV) Revelation 9: 20-21

Observation:

With all the various events mentioned in Revelations that include plagues of smoke, fire, sulfur, locust with human faces and teeth like lions, big stars or meteorites falling from the sky, horses with snake-like tales and others that come to wipe out a portion of the earth including mankind---It's amazing how the above scriptures tell us that the "rest of mankind" still did not repent of their evil and wicked ways.  I guess it makes me wonder, if they wouldn't repent after seeing all those things happen, is it possible that there are the same type of people that are living today?....that will not repent of their wicked ways no matter what?

Application:

Although we may find the same stubborn, hard-headed kind of people today that may not want to change their ways or repent, we know that with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.  And it is on this truth that we continue to lift them up in prayer, love on them, and set the right kind of example for them.  I've heard before that the word HOPE is a powerful thing.  And it is this HOPE through Jesus Christ that we stand on......for we shall never give up when it comes to reaching the Lost for Christ, including the stubborn ones that are set in their ways.  The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9--The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

One day the events of Revelations will take place, but  I'm so glad that it didn't come yet.  Because I know there are many more people (including our loved ones) that need to hear the Truth and be saved....

Prayer:

Lord, I know your word tells us that the Last Days will be like Noah's day....where people will be carrying on as if nothing is coming or will happen as described in Revelations, but Lord I pray that this will not be the case with those that Love You and are followers of Christ.  I pray that each one would know the sense of urgency that is at hand to redeem the time for Your Kingdom.  I pray for Your courage to step out just a little more in faith and boldness as year 2011 approaches.  Help us as Christians to put on the garment of Praise and Worship unto You in the way we live our lives.....we need You more and more each day....in Jesus Precious name...Amen.
