Topic: God cannot Lie

Scripture:  18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.  (NLT) Hebrews 6:18-19

Observation:  I look at this as a double-wammy. Not only did God give us his promise but also his oath--both unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.  We have the hope of being blessed and receiving all of God's promises as was promised to Abraham in the beginning.  That hope of course is when Jesus Christ came onto this earth and died for our sins that we may be forgiven and made in right relationship with God and to spend eternity with Him and not separated from Him. Our role is to receive Christ into our hearts and believe that it is so. For when God says it's done....it is done.

Application:  There are  times in our lives as we build relationships with people that we are dissappointed or discouraged because that relationship has gone south or sour.  It may be because of a misunderstanding, disagreement or even a lie.  It is so reassuring and comforting that when it comes to God and His promises it is impossible for Him to lie.  You don't have to second-guess or wonder if what God says is true or not.  It is always true 100% of the time.  Imagine that, there was not other person higher for God to swear by so He swore by Himself.  vs 16 tells us: 16 Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. 17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind.

Prayer:  Lord help me in areas of my unbelief in my walk with You.  Help the knowledge that I've gained in my mind to settle and take root in my heart so that I may continue to walk out Your plans for my life. Let me live out Your promises each and every day instead of just speaking about it.  May it be incarnated in my life that others may see Your identity, Your Glory, Your Excellencies, Your Mercy, Your Freedom and Your Compassion, through me.....in Jesus Name  Amen
