Topic: "The Truth"
Scripture: 12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?” 13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides.[d] If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” (NIV) Mathew 15:12-14
Observation: It was not uncommon for Jesus to speak boldly towards the Pharisees with the truth. Of course the Pharisees didn't like it because during those times Jesus didn't hold anything back. Today's scripture is a response to one of those episodes. In fact, it was his own disciples who said "Do you know the Pharisees were offended?. Jesus somehow knew their heart, intention and therefore always had the right answers for them even if it offended them. He basically tells his disciples to just ignore them and "leave them" for they are "blind guides"..
Application: I heard an expression that states; "if God is not in it, I'm not in it" which is pretty similar to today's reading. If God did not seed it, plant it or start it, it is an area we should just 'leave and ignore". Otherwise we will be blindly leading to somewhere that will get "nowhere" in reference to God's Kingdom or his purpose and will for our lives. One of the areas that throw a curve in our decision making is "pride". Pride has a tendency of blinding us and even making us deaf to the voice of God and the end result is we only hear only ourselves, very dangerous! We too may be offended with the Truth of God's Word when there are changes we need to make in our lives....but at least we will be headed somewhere with our eyes "wide" open towards the destiny God has for our lives. Whew....thank God!
Prayer: Lord thank you for your Compassion, Mercy and Love you have for us. I thank you for your Word of Truth that is helping me to stay on that narrow path.....for it is truly one that keeps me on track. Lord thank you for revealing truths too in my time of prayer, for opening doors and closing doors, for showing me right from wrong, for helping me appreciate the tangible things in life as well as the untangible things and for simply helping me appreciate the many people you have put in my life, including my wife, children, family, friends and loved ones.....Thank you Lord....Thank you Lord....Thank you Lord....in Jesus Name.
