Scripture: Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.(NIV) Hebrews 6:7-8 Observation: The familiar phrase of "use it or lose it" somewhat fits right here. The scripture talks about walking in spiritual maturity and pressing forward in the things of God. We should continue to drink of the "rain" of God's word, His goodness, His mercy and compassion, His wisdom, His faithfulness, etc. And like a crop, produce fruit that brings Glory to His Holy Name. We are not to fall away as Christians, become stagnant, immature, childish and remain as infants in The Lord feeding on milk. We are to transition into solid food so we can spiritually grow...and if we don't we will be in danger of falling away for God. Application: I must remember that God wants the best for me at all times and not just some of the time. At the same time He wants me to do my part. Not to be complacent, lax, too kicked back and just sort of floating in life. He has a plan for me and it is my responsibility to partner with God's Holy Spirit and find out what that is. The more I mature in The Lord, the more I know about how to be right in His eyes and not only receive His blessings but to be a blessing to others. Prayer: Lord, spiritual maturity doesn't come easy and takes effort and discipline.....help me in that area...in Jesus Name...Amen | |
