Topic: True God
Scripture: 21 Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing. (NIV) 1st King 18:21
Observation: Sure would like to see a Movie made up with the story of Elijah. With all the special effects of today's culture in media, it probably would be a great movie. The scripture above is set just about the time Elijah and the False Prophets of the god Baal battle it out in seeing who is the true God. The challenge is to pray down fire over the animal sacrifice set on the altar. Elijah states; "How long will you waver between two opinions?"
Application: We at times may encounter the same situation when it comes to following the path of God's righteousness. Months ago we viewed several teachings on the "Battle of the Mind" with Joyce Meyer. And I believe it is there (our minds), where "indecisiveness" happens when we are not set solidly in God's Word. As Elijah tells us there is a tendency to waver. I need to daily grow deeper roots in God's Word, laid upon the foundation of Jesus Christ being the Chief Corner Stone in all decisions of my life. And know that God's Way (Yahweh), is "The Way, The Truth and The Life for me.
Prayer: Lord, there is no other way for me to live my life that will bring about Your Blessing, but Your Way. Lord, help me when faced with decisions that seem to make me waver. I ask you Holy Spirit to help me in this area with Your Truth. Bring to memory the right scriptures in Your Word to help confirm my decision-making. In You Lord, I put my Trust.......in Jesus Name.....Amen. Amen. | |
