Scripture: 3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,... (NIV) 2 Timothy 3:1-2)

Observation:  Terrible times--domestic violence, drug abuse, suicide, shootings and murders, wars and rumors of wars come to mind when I read this scripture.  It seems to be escalating as each day goes by. Sometimes when we are not careful  we tend to "desensitive" ourselves from our surroundings. The scripture above actually continues with the following in verse 3-5: " without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." OH MY WE DEFINITELY NEED GOD!

Application:  It's been quite a while since I got back into journaling....there seems to be an inner spirit (God's Holy Spirit) that longs for, thirsts and quenches the Word of God.  When I read a scripture above it reminds me how we need to cling to God's every promise and Word that he will never leave us or forsake us.  It also reminds me how God's Word restores me, refreshes me , renews me, rejuvenates me, replenishes me and refocuses me on what's important in life.  I need to take care of my whole being so that I can be a better Father, Husband, Pastor, Brother, Son, etc...I need to be alert, on guard, watchful and discerning on what's around me and how I am reacting to it so as not to stray from God.

Prayer:  Lord keep me on that path of holiness...and when I stray I receive your loving hands to help me back.  Help me to be more patient, kind, gentle, merciful, compassionate.....help me be more like you..IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
